Do you remember the hilarious scene from the Coen Brother’s iconic movie “O Brother Where Are Thou” where three ne’er-do wells, freshly escaped from prison, stumble upon a local church’s riverside baptism ceremony? Well, the song from that scene, “As I went down in the river to pray” can be traced back to the 19th century, although the identity of the composer/lyricist is lost in the mists of time. World Village Gospel Choir will present a new arrangement of this song by choir Co-Director Neil Weisensel as part of our upcoming concert of a cappella (unaccompanied) vocal music.

Our concert, WVCG Unplugged! is at  7:30 p.m. Fri. Aug. 26th at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton St. Advance tickets for $12 are available at  http://worldvillagemusic.ca/buy-music/. Tickets at the door are $15, kids 12 and under free. For more information, email [email protected] or call us at 204-284-3684
