At this high energy and dynamic event, you will hear the 70-voice WORLD VILLAGE GOSPEL CHOIR present gospel tunes of celebration and praise, world music songs speaking of cooperation and harmony, earthy chants, Gaia-inspired love songs by top women composers, including Winnipeg’s own jazz diva Lianne Fournier, plus a stunning choral setting of St. Francis of Assisi’s text Canticle of Brother Sun by American saxophonist Paul Winter..

Founded in 2012 by co-directors Rachel Landrecht and Neil Weisensel, WORLD VILLAGE GOSPEL CHOIR has backed up Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame group Heart at the MTS Centre, been featured in a Vision TV documentary entitled Gospel to Go,  twice performed live on a national APTN broadcast for Aboriginal Day Live, and performed with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. The Choir recently recorded and produced its first single, Make Me an Instrument (Show Love) composed by Neil Weisensel. It’s available here. In April 2017 the Choir will appear as invited guests of the International Interfaith Gospel Music Conference, held in Oakland, California.

WORLD VILLAGE GOSPEL CHOIR is a unique, auditioned vocal ensemble that sings Southern US-style Gospel, World Music of many different cultures from around the globe, plus dynamic arrangements of well-loved artists such as Peter Gabriel and U2. Our mission is to create a supportive and inclusive community that enables each singer to express their true, free voice.
